This piece is an experiment in form, content and framing. In this unique treatment the custom framing job is part of the art. Or is the art part of the framing?
“Yogi Kitty” was made with a negative mono-print, collage and colored pencils on a textured Japanese rice paper.
The framing was done with all archival museum quality materials and techniques. The mid-centurty Omega moulding adds depth and texture to the finished piece. Glazed in Tru Vue museum glass, which is both 99.9% UV protected and anti-reflective. Crescent solid core mats are layered with glass spacers and artcare foam board to create a shadowbox effect. The collage elements are attached to the matboard at varying heights in a play on the space. All framing was chosen and completed by the artist.
