This piece came about as I wrestled with the question of what defines life. Plants grow from a seed, but how did the original seed of life catch a spark and become reality? How did that spark lead us to this present day reality? This work brings more questions than answers for me, and incorporates many different visual elements to evoke an other worldly feeling.
The artwork is a combination of collage, Mono-print & colored pencil on a textured Japanese rice paper.
The framing was designed and executed by the artist, and features a dramatically modern Larson-Juhl moulding. The artwork is floating above a textured green fabric mat, and is glazed by Tru Vue Museum glass which offers 99.9% UV protection and is anti-reflective.
Artwork measures 19 in. x 25 in.
Frame measures 24 in. x 38 in. x 3 in.
